Work has been really weird lately. Several key people have left in the last few weeks and everyone is pretty worried. Nobody will meet anyone else’s eyes and everyone’s wondering who’ll be the next to quit. It’s pretty messed up and overall, the vibes are wicked icky. I went for a nice long run after work today, just to purge myself of the negative energy that seemed to be stuck all over me. And I really don’t like running.
Though I should be doing more of it. I have that Warrior Dash thing coming up in September. I have about six weeks to get myself to the point where I can run for 3.5 miles. I’m definitely not looking forward to training for this thing. The race itself, however, should be loads of fun.
On the upside, I ran farther for longer today than I have before. I’ve been reading a lot of posts by trail runners over at the ADKHP forum, so that’s providing some inspiration.
I was hoping to take Monday and Tuesday off next week and spend it in the Adirondacks bagging peaks, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen: I’m handling a few of the accounts for the guy who quit today. Too bad.
I will, however, be in the ‘dacks this Sunday. On Saturday, Scott and I will head up to the Catskills, bag Hunter and SW Hunter and visit with our friends Heather, Tom, Iske and Lily while they’re guarding the Hunter Mountain fire tower and doing the ambassador thing. Then we’ll swing up to the ‘dacks in the early afternoon, hopefully in time to camp before it gets dark. We’ll climb a couple of mountains in the ‘dacks on Sunday and head back to NJ. I’m looking forward to seeing Scott’s boner when he sees the majesty of the Adirondacks. I don’t think that last sentence came out right. =/
So yeah, work is pretty icky right now and I’m very glad my cube is kind of a pain in the ass to get to. Rumors abound and I’m not looking forward to the next couple of weeks. Work-wise, that is.
I am, however, looking forward to snowshoeing this winter with lots of new friends. I think I’ll probably miss solo hiking a bit, but breaking trail by oneself really sucks the big one.

Nope it didn’t come out right at all lol. Can’t wait to hit the trail my man.
I like the phrase ‘wicked icky’.. I think I will start using it.. a lot.
This sounds exactly like my job right now, except I am hoping to be one of the ones on the way out. Corporate America sucks balls right now. Hope you have a great weekend.
I concur with the icky feeling about this place. I’ve been at the office every day for two weeks straight, so that sucks right off the top. Then add the fact that the morale around this place is so low and that makes it doubly depressing to be here. But, hey, we get a free lunch today!
