Lazy Weekend

WTF.  This is STFU.  I’m having computer issues.  Not hardware – though my laptop could use a little speeding up – but software.  Hell, I don’t even think it’s software.  It’s effing internetware.  I STILL can’t figure out why my damned dashboard won’t let me upload images.  What a pain in the ass.

So I bought this new theme – “Thesis” it’s called – because it’s supposed to be really easy to use and customize.  Except it’s not.  By the time I learn all the CSS tricks to get goddamn Thesis to look the way I want it to (or any way other than the default), I’ll know enough goddamn CSS tricks that I can code my own goddamn theme and won’t need this bullsh*t closed source hump of a theme.  I can’t believe I paid money for this.

Oh well, whatever.  There are plenty of things to do with Thesis; I’m sure I mostly just need to spend a little time with it.  It looks like my CSS-learning will be broken into small segments, which is probably what I need.

Except the thing is, I DON’T WANT TO LEARN GODDAMNED CSS RIGHT NOW.  I just don’t have the time.  The “easy to use” aspect I was looking is basically “press this button to upload an image” (with no resulting error message) and “press this button to change the font color” and even “here’s one of those little diagonal-arrow-pointy things that will let you resize columns and whatnot on the page”.

I’m going to go read my book for a little bit and pretend I didn’t just whine about my blog for the last 250 words.

Well, I can’t say as that worked.

Whatever.  Today was another good day.  Up at a decent hour, I spent some quality time with my book and a cup of coffee on the patio at the Glen Rock Starbucks.  Had some lunch and took my kayak up to Lake Tiorati in Harriman State Park.  I didn’t push myself too hard; mostly just worked on my technique and meditated out in the middle of the lake for a bit.  Very peaceful.

Afterward, I showered and spend a couple of hours copywriting outside the Midland Park Starbucks.  Got my laundry done and read some more a little later on in the evening.

I’m going to hold off a bit on the 22-inch monitor until I can figure out a decent docking setup for both laptops.  And crap, I didn’t pay any bills today except the rent.  Oh well, I’ll take care of those during the week.

I’m off to bed now.  Work is going to pick up this week.  Conference call with France in the late morning, so I’ll need to arrive early in order to properly prepare.  My sunburn is mild and feels good and the AC unit in my apartment is keeping up with the heat ok so far.  Life is good.

I am the antithesis of “Thesis.” In other words, computer software drives me nuts. ;-)

Yeah, good conversation Saturday. Thanks for lending perspective. Hey, one other thing: I got Katherine a present over the weekend—a black Old Navy fleece pullover I found in the woods that I knew would fit her. It’s the thought that counts, right? It has to be washed, but she likes it. She is grateful to you for talking to me about how I should bring her presents from my hiking trips. … Note that I didn’t say buy; I said bring. :-)

Have a good week.

Joe, you’re kidding about the fleece, right?
