My desk is a mess right now.  And I’m thoroughly knackered.  At least, I think I’m knackered.  If that means tired, then I’m knackered.  If it means that I’m drunk, then I’m not knackered.  And if it means that my hooves and ears have been removed, then I’m not knackered either.

I spent today in a meeting.  One meeting.  All day.  We broke for lunch.  And resumed immediately afterward.

I was supposed to be running the meeting; it was supposed to be me and the database developer chick.  Instead the head of this other department showed up and spent the morning hours telling the database developer chick what she wanted my database to look like.  The database that’s supposed to automate a good part of my job during the May/June months.  The one that’s supposed to knock off a few hours from the sixteen per day that I’m usually working during that time.

Things worked out better after lunch, because I know how to speak the developer chick’s language (whereas the other department head doesn’t).

I definitely shouldn’t have skipped breakfast.

My meeting that was scheduled for most of the day tomorrow was canceled, and I’m just fine with that.  I need to sit down and prioritize my projects at work tomorrow.

I checked my voicemail at lunch today and received one from a woman at “an executive search firm” from yesterday afternoon.  She wants to talk with me to see if I can recommend anyone for a VP-level position at Goldman Sachs, dealing with corporate governance issues and interacting with the investor relations department.  I might fit the bill.

I probably don’t, but I’m going to give her a call back anyway.  From the tone of her voice, I think she found me via Twitter.  That is, I could kind of hear the smile behind her words; like actually leaving me a voicemail was proof that Twitter can be useful in the business world.  We’ll see.

So that’s it for me, yo.  Tonight’s a total down-night for me.  No copywriting, no burning it at both ends (like usual).  I just put my ‘dacks high peaks region map on my pile of stuff to take to work tomorrow.  I think I’m going to try to head up there Saturday afternoon and hike Sunday.  Stay tuned.  Peace out.
