I’m a f*ckin’ animal. Now if I can just manage to get up on time tomorrow and not feel too much like the poo on the bottom of a trash-trucker’s boot.
The last few days haven’t exactly been kind to me, dear reader. But I am grateful for them nonetheless. My apologies for the lack of posts, but I’ve been sick as a dog. Yes, yes, I know you’ve been hearing that from me for about a week now. I don’t think I’ve ever had a cold/flu last this long. Normally, I’m two days of fitful, sweaty sleeping and then a quick recovery spurred on by high caloric and vitamin intake. Not in this case. I haven’t even been driving myself as hard as I usually do – probably about 80%, which is a big pull-back for me.
I took the night off from blogging on Wednesday evening so that I could catch a few extra winks. Went to bed around midnight (which is WAY early for me), and woke up feeling like the ass-end of an MSW trailer. So I emailed in sick for the day and went back to sleep. I didn’t wake up until about 6PM and was so dizzy and disoriented that I could barely take a shower before going back to bed. Not the best of ways to go about fasting, I’ll tell you what.
I made it to work today (Friday) because I had to send out a handful of reports for one of the guys in my department who’s on vacation. But man! did I not feel like being there. As the day wore on, I felt a little better – which made me wonder if taking Thursday off was such a good idea.
In any case, I made it through today, even finishing off about half of the website copy I’d started on Tuesday. I’m off to bed shortly so that I can be up early for WordCamp NYC tomorrow and Sunday. WordCamp is a travelling seminar for bloggers who use the WordPress platform (of which I am one). I’m psyched to meet some other bloggers.
Want to hear something stupid?
Too bad. I ordered new business/calling cards for myself last week – maybe Wednesday or Thursday. They haven’t arrived yet, even though I was very specific about including “Garage” in the address (I live in the carriage house behind the main house). I got the “order shipped” email last Friday, but haven’t seen them yet. When I got home today to find them still not on my doorstep, I checked the tracking number and found that UPS had delivered them to the “front door” on Tuesday. Which means that they’re sitting in a pile of mail at the main house. Whomever the current caretaker is apparently doesn’t realize that I’m here or doesn’t read the address labels as the mail comes in. I wonder how much more mail I’ve missed.
I ordered the new cards because I’m pretty much out of my old ones, but also partly to pass out at WordCamp this weekend. They have my logo, URL, and Google Wave address on them. Now I just have to hope that someone’s home at 8AM tomorrow morning. What a pain in the ass.
So that’s about it for me, dear reader. If I’m not too shot-out from blog-info-overload tomorrow, I’ll update you later on in the evening. Talk to you soon.
