Check it: This post is being written from my brandy-new (somewhat) high speed internet connection. My very own. No more pirating my neighbor’s wi-fi. No more waiting forever for pages to load. No more losing blog posts because I lost the wi-fi connection. If this isn’t awesomeness, I’m not sure what is.
The internet guy was scheduled to come between 11 and 2 today. Guess what time he showed up.
Whatever. I so don’t care. BECAUSE I HAVE A RELIABLE INTERNET CONNECTION AT HOME BEYOTCH!
Today was a great day – and not just because of the aforementioned. I spent the whole day in a pair of shorts, sweating, reading, washing and waxing my car. My sister Katie stopped by and brought me lunch. We got to hang out for a good couple of hours. I love my sister. She always brings the awesomeness.
I’m kind of surprised, too, that I wasn’t all kinds of pissed off at having to wait around all day for the internet guy. I mean, he was wicked late and it totally killed my plans for the day. I had to miss my 4PM appointment, but whatever, that was easily rescheduled.
It doesn’t look like I’m going to have much of a ‘vacation’, but I think I’ll be happy with a four-day weekend. Like I said, I had all the time in the world today to really do a good job washing and waxing my car – it really needed it. I even had time to take some rubbing compound to the scratches and scuffs. I had no idea that there were so many.
Normally, I would have squeezed the wash & wax into an hour or two, and simply been happy with the fact that I got it done – instead of being proud of doing a solid job of it.
So that’s enough update crap. It’s time for plugs and links on this hot-ass Friday. If you’re at work, that sucks. I hope the day goes quickly and your weekend starts early and well.
If you haven’t yet been to Cracked.com, check it out. Robert Brockway is probably my favorite of their staff writers. He put together an article called The Way of the Barbarian: Infusing Your Spiritual Life With Conan, and I’ve been asking myself “Conan, what is best in life?” ever since I read it.
I’d also recommend TheChive.com for a good day-speeder – especially if you’re more of a “look at the pictures” than “read the articles” kind of person. Though if you are, I’d have to say I’m kind of baffled at what you’re doing here. Maybe just trying to get smarter. Be careful, the pics on this site aren’t all necessarily safe for work. I mostly just like all the boobs.
If that’s a bit low-brow for you, check out Weekly Writing Assignment – if you’re a regular reader, you probably already have. The site’s brand new, and Daniel Waldman has really been putting some hard work into it. I’ve submitted a few things, even coming up with a weekly finalist spot – which is now a monthly finalist. Here are the rest. Bet you can’t guess who I want to win.
