Today I’ll be tackling my twin nemeses Lone and Rocky Mountains. These are the last two mountains I have left to climb in order to get into the Catskill 3500 Club. I’ve climbed the other 33 mountains in the Catskills that are over 3500 feet above sea level. I’ve also climbed four of them again in the winter months, as the membership requirements dictate. Lone and Rocky will be numbers 38 and 39 of the 39 mountains total that must be climbed.
My brother John will be joining me on this hike. He’s in pretty good shape, so I’m hoping he doesn’t have too much trouble. We’ll be leaving from the parking area at the end of Denning Road and hiking along the Neversink River before we turn southeast to ascend these two mountains.
