NASA’s Next Spacecraft – Alternatives to Ares?

April 18, 2009 · 1 comment

Recently, there’s been some controversy among NASA engineers regarding its plans for the next iteration of manned spacecraft built by the United States.  Here’s a recent article from Popular Mechanics that discusses some of the political controversy surrounding “The Stick”.  Jupiter DIRECT is one alternative concept.  The presentations below, put together by NASA engineers and called “Blue Sky”, present yet another alternative concept.  You can also view the below at my page on SlideShare.

NASA’s a notoriously closed shop, and if you read the Popular Mechanics article, you’ll see that most engineers won’t speak up for fear of reprisal at work.  Please feel free to pass this link around and call your Congressperson – these guys love their job and just want what’s best for Americans in space.

If you have questions about any of these presentations, please contact me at QuixoticJedi[at]gmail[dot]com and I’ll put you in touch with the right people.
